About "My Friends with Wings"

Hello! My name is Tony.

My flight crew colleagues and I are flight attendants for the largest airline in the world, UNITED. Every week, we get to go places, to see things, to meet people, and to have adventures that others only dream about. It's our job!

As Flight Attendants, we take care of anywhere from 50 to 450 passengers at-a-time onboard UNITED airliners. From the smallest to the largest, the UNITED fleet contains almost 1,000 airplanes! Usually, the size of the airplane depends on the city that we are traveling to, the time of day, and how many other airlines fly to the same city. Our duties are to make certain that our passengers are safe, secure and comfortable. But we also serve food and drinks, especially on longer flights. Our flights can be as short as 20 minutes or as long as 18 and a half hours (that's basically half way around the world, without stopping). On the longest flights like New York to Hong Kong, the crew are allowed to take breaks in special bunks above the passenger cabin or below it. (Shhh, the location of our bunks is a secret).

But the most fun part of our job happens when we arrive at our destination. We are provided transportation from the airport to a nice hotel and usually have a day or so to relax. These rest times in other cities are called layovers and layovers are where we get to explore and have fun! We're excited to invite you along with us through this Facebook page.

From Atlanta to Athens, Denver to Dublin, Los Angeles to London, Tulsa to Tokyo, Seattle to Singapore, Houston to Hong Kong, the world is a strange mix of cultures and customs. Do you know: Where cars drive on the left side of the road instead of the right? Which culture considers it impolite to show the bottom of your shoe? Where the cow is considered holy and never to be disturbed, much less eaten? Which city is home to the world's tallest building? the smallest house? the curviest street?

Sometimes when you are sitting in a classroom, Geography can be pretty boring. But when you are traveling the world with a friend, it suddenly becomes ALIVE!

Will you join us? The places we will go and the people we will meet!

Can we be your "Friends with Wings?"
